Reading While White: A Response to Reading While Black

Earlier this year, Northeastern Seminary launched a mini class called Reading While Black, inspired by the best-selling, internationally known book by author and former Northeastern Seminary faculty member Dr. Esau McCaulley.

In response, Dr. David Carr wrote Reading While White — a series of articles. Dr. Carr's piece shows how his whit, honesty, and theological understanding are a gift to our students here at the Seminary.

In part one, Dr. Carr introduces the idea of reading the Bible through white racial lenses. In part two, Dr. Carr explains what can happen when we bring our racial identities—and their constitutive factors—with us to the pages of Scripture.
